Hug-a-Bears are cute little stuffed bears given out to Hospital Personnel so that in a crisis there is a little bear for a child to hold onto in a difficult time.
Each year Hug-A-Bears make hundreds of bears which are given out to Nurses at the local hospitals to give to a child when there is a distressing event.
Membership and Pastoral Care look after maintaining the formal Records of membership and weddings and funerals. These are the formal records for the church.
This Committee also reaches out to those who are sick or stuck at home. Members send out cards and visit people needing contact with the church.
The Mission and Outreach Committee disburses funds to local and regional charities as the need arises.
This Committee gives out scholarship amounts to students at the local school.
This committee deals with ways and means to have people made aware of what our church is doing and what is happening.
This Committee looks after the booking of parts of our facility and ensure that requirements for rentals are met.
At this time there are 2 music leaders in the church. Each produces the music for 2 Sundays a month.
There will be more music groups available once there is a Music Director. This position is currenlty vacant.
On the Third Sunday of the month (except for July and August) the group gathers at the Colonial Motel on Goderich St. for Breakfast at 8 AM.
This is an informal and social gathering emphazing the 4 Cs ( Caffeine, Calories, Cholesterol and Camaraderie.
The Stewardship Committee helps to keep the resources of the Church at adequate levels. This Committee encourages our Congregation to maintain a positive outlook on the Time Talents and Treasures that people give to the Church to keep it operating well.
Finance Committee deals with the management of donations and ensuring that the bills are paid.
The Committee works with the treasurer and the other members of Council to ensure that the funds are applied correctly.
This Committee works with Council to set the Annual Budget and explains the budget to people as required.
This groups covers the Discovery Cove children's program each Sunday.
Children join our worship for the start and then move to their own room for crafts, lessons and fun.
Christian Education also has a number of PD day camps. Children are welcome to attend. We have limited capabilities for children with special needs. Normally the parent/guardian would have to remain with their child to meet their needs.
Christian Education also has Christmas and March Break day camps.
All camps have no set fee and are by free will donation.
Every summer for the Second Full week of August all children are welcome to attend our Vacation Bible camp.
A theme is used and children learn about God's greatness while having lots of fun making crafts, playing games and eating snacks.
If parents need full day care an afternoon camp is available. There is no fixed fee and is by free will donation only.

This Committee takes care of most of the Maintenance for the Church and the Property. The people deal with repairs and rehabilitation of the Building and the grounds. They arrange for work bees to carry out the Spring and Fall Clean ups.
In the summer the Committee members ensure the lawns are mowed and the grounds look their best.
This committee also ensures that contracts are in place for maintaining equipment and work such as snow removal.
We will be meeting on Wednesday morning from 10:30AM-12:00pm at the Port Elgin United Church in the Gym.
Parents/Grandparents/Guardians can bring their small children to the church so the kids can enjoy playtime and snacks and the adults can share time with their children and have some chats with adults.
There are games, activities, crafts and snacks for the children.
The parent or guardian remains with their child at the playgroup.
This group meets once a month to produce quilts which are donated to other charities or directly to families and persons in need so that people can stay warm.
The Congregation of Port Elgin United Church is responsible for having a Board of Trustees. The Trustees are appointed at a Congregational meeting. The Trustees are responsible for holding all congregational property for the congregation as part of the United Church of Canada. They are required to ensure that the property is maintained and insured as a reasonable person would their own property.
The Trustees meet as required at the call of the chair, usually a minimum of twice annually.
Every Wednesday at 9:30 this group of women meet to learn about the bible and God's word and how those lessons may be applied to life.
There are studies selected and people use the resource books to learn and to appreciate what is in the bible.
There is a zoom link for are persons who are unable to attend in person.
Everyone is welcome to join. Newcomers and people not familiar with the bible are most welcome and can join in the learning.
This Committee works to have the Sunday service put together and to have all of the groups working together so that the Sunday service delivers its message smoothly.
The Committee includes aspects of what the liturgical season is, what are the current issues in the world and how to integrate the music, the sermons and the lessons into a cohesive message.
The UCW look after preparing meals and having functions to raise funds for the Church.
The UCW also ensure that people have fun preparing for and conducting the events.

The UCW Executive continues to meet as required.

The Youth Group meets every week from 7 to 9 PM. Adult leaders prepare general themes and the youth prepare their own aspects of each meeting.
Youth from Grade 6 and up are welcome.
Think of a bunch of kids having fun on a Friday Night at a church. And yes that is all in one sentence.
